The Master’s Academy (TMA) Homeschool is a non-stock, non-profit homeschooling program that is accredited in the Philippines (via the Philippine Department of Education), and the U.S. (via a partnership with Walkersville Christian Family Schools). It is one of the pilot Home Education Programs (HEP) of the Philippine Department of Education, and currently has students enrolled in 17 different Philippine provinces and 17 different countries.
It was started in 1999 by Peter and Deonna Tan-Chi who had the vision to offer homeschooling in the Philippines but with accreditation of the DepEd. The program was patterned after their own positive homeschooling experience of their five children, Peter, Jr., Joy, Paul, Candy, and Carolyn, all of whom excelled in academics and extra-curriculars as they pursued education in conventional schools through High School and College. It was established together with The Master’s Academy, a brick-and-mortar conventional school based in Bicutan, Parañaque, that now offers Pre-school through High School levels.
As homeschool enrollees increased, TMA Homeschool created a Training & Receiving center based in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, Manila, to increase accessibility to its enrolled families. Enrolled families come to this center for orientations, seminars, workshops, events, meetings with Academic Consultants, as well as the processing of enrollment. However, in the nature of homeschooling, daily instruction of their children happens in the home and not at this center nor in the conventional school facilities in Parañaque.
